Wooden Shape Stacking Puzzle — Pattern Cards
Layer six wooden shapes from bottom to top to copy picture patterns. Includes eight double-sided cards with 16 challenges. Ages 3+.
Product details
Instead of fitting pieces side by side into a board, children layer flat wooden shapes directly on top of one another to copy the picture on a card. To match the design, they look for partly hidden edges, work out which piece goes on the bottom first, and turn each shape to the right angle.
Ways to play
- Start with 1- and 2-star cards: Stack two or three shapes beside the card—or directly over it—to copy the order from bottom to top.
- Tackle 3- to 5-star stacks: Spot peeking corners and colors to figure out which shapes are tucked into the middle layers.
- Make your own stack: Layer three or four shapes in a new arrangement and challenge another player to recreate it from bottom to top.
Skills practised
- Visual Matching: Spot shapes and colors on the card, even when lower pieces are partly covered.
- Spatial Reasoning: Work out bottom-to-top layer order and turn each shape to match the picture’s orientation.
- Fine Motor: Place and adjust flat wooden pieces on top of earlier layers without shifting the stack underneath.

Before you choose
Recommended for ages 3+ years (36 months+). The wooden shapes are loose, flat pieces without pegs, slots, or magnets, so they work best on a flat table or floor. Challenge cards use pictures and star symbols only, with no reading required.
